Teairra H. Presents The Hair Lounge

Inspired by the pages of Teen Vogue and Nylon Magazine, Teairra H. owner and lead stylist of The Hair Lounge beauty salon located in Baltimore, MD is on the rise with new, innovative styles and techniques sure to turn heads. What one may define as a simple hairstyle Teairra H. translates as three-dimensional art. Her creative edge and execution of color placement and cuts places her in a field of her own.

Teairra took an independent leap into styling by working with a close friend who encouraged her to enroll into hair School and pursue her new passion. While attending Empire Beauty School, she obtained the basic fundamentals of styling and took on a part-time job at Trade Secret, a local beauty supply store to gain more product knowledge.

“I didn't grow up doing hair all my life like everyone else, it's kind of something that came to me all a once.” –Teairra H.

Hair School gave Teairra the tools she would need to become a certified stylist, but it was the sharp shears and professionalism of the predominantly male staff of Bounce Salon and the influence of seasoned stylist and mentors Lanyce Oldham and Malika Frazier at the Funk Hair Café salon that taught Teairra being a stylist was more then a profession, it was a lifestyle. As a hair student, Teairra gained hands-on training by becoming a shampoo assistant at EXcetra Salon under the guiding eye of Lanyce Oldham. After completing hair school, Teairra worked at the chic Bounce Salon. It was at Bounce, where she would begin to develop her own styling techniques by watching and recreating her visions into her own unique styles.

“I was apart of such an upscale salon, and it truly inspired me to have my own business someday.” –Teairra H

In the summer of 2009, Teairra H. established The Hair Lounge salon. Combining her experiences and converting them into what she envisioned, The Hair Lounge has become Teairra’s personal studio and lab were she creates.

“I want the world to pay close attention to my placement. I perceive my styling as Funky, but also Tasteful. I love using wild colors! And I know a lot of stylist is afraid to do that. I do very well with blending. For example you may want a blonde bob, but I might mixed a little brown in it to make it pop. Or add a hint of color in surprising places. –Teairra H.

The Hair Lounge provides a relaxing, different, freeing, and intimate experience. Teairra H. styles’ have been featured in Black Hair Magazine as well as various fashion shows and events throughout Baltimore. Along with publications, Teairra has begun to crossover to celebrity styling. Her list of clients have included recording artist RYE RYE as well as lead singer ISIS of international band Thunderheist. The walls of The Hair Lounge pop with pink and grey and the future seems bright for this fresh stylist. Through cross marketing and promoting her business on a national and international level, she hopes someday expand and create a brand that will be know and seen throughout the world.

“I'm obsessed with hair and I love what I do! It’s me!”
